WHY YOGA?
I fell in love with yoga at a time where I was falling in love with holistic medicine. My pathway in life as a Massage Therapist and Acupuncturist is complemented deeply by my yoga practice. Yoga is vital to my life in every area. I have found that over the years, when times are rocky or delightful, I can always turn to my mat and create a sacred place to connect with the Divine.

FAVORITE YOGA STYLE?
I currently practice Ashtanga with our wonderful Morning Mysore class. Through the inspiration of my Morning Mysore group and the YOHI community, my yoga practice has blossomed into a deep sustaining well. One of the greatest blessings has been having a community of people on the same path. Not only is it inspiring…it’s fun!

HOW LONG PRACTICING?
I have been practicing yoga for 9 years; since I was pregnant with my son Josiah. I was introduced to it through other mamas who said it helped them in their pregnancy. I found a pre-natal yoga DVD and never looked back!

GREATEST YOGA LESSON LEARNED?
As a single parent, I spent many years practicing in my living room or back yard-as my child quietly slept upstairs- with my yoga books and my intuition as my teacher. During those times I cultivated something special…a time for me to tune in to my body, focus my mind, and free my spirit. As a holistic healer, it has helped me tremendously to deepen my intuition and to understand the energetics of the human body/mind/spirit connection.

MOVING FORWARD.
I came to YOHI in December 2012 planning on just trying the unlimited pass for only one month. I had been experiencing panic attacks due to tremendous stress in my life and figured that if I did a class or two a day that the panic attacks would subside. And they did! When the month-long pass was done I couldn’t imagine giving up this precious gift so I decided that I’d commit myself to going almost daily for the next six months. Those six months have passed and now I won’t turn back.

BEST THING ABOUT YOHI?
I love that YOHI offers many different types of classes such as iRest, Kundalini, Urban Zen and Hot Flow. I’ve tried them all. There is truly something for everyone.
